About Kakinada
Kakinada is a coastal city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, known for its port, coconut groves, and vibrant local culture. Historically a trading and agricultural hub, the city blends maritime industry with growing urban development and a strong sense of regional identity. The heart of Awaken Church Kakinada is to build a family that welcomes and cares for every person who comes through the doors. There is a deep passion to see God’s people grow into all He has called them to be and to see each member released into ministry and service beyond the Sunday gatherings. Positioned within a community shaped by both tradition and change, this church seeks to demonstrate God’s love in practical ways and to proclaim a clear, uncompromising biblical message of truth.

Poorna and Deepu Channdu
Pastor Poorna Channdu is a devoted servant of Jesus, deeply committed to God, his wife Deepu, and their two children. Alongside Deepu he leads and nurtures their church community—partnering in vision, pastoral care, and practical ministry to build a warm, growing fellowship that serves Christ and the neighbourhood.
A Sunday morning with Pastor Poorna is marked by heartfelt, Scripturecentred preaching that both comforts and convicts. His sermons are delivered with passion and clarity, inspiring people to pursue a deeper relationship with the Lord and prompting practical next steps in faith and service.
Pastor Poorna and Deepu minister as a team. Deepu shares leadership responsibilities in discipleship, hospitality, and outreach, and together they model a gospel marriage that encourages families to serve. Their collaborative approach strengthens the church’s life: she helps care for newcomers and children, while he leads teaching and vision—both invest time mentoring small groups, training volunteers, and equipping members for ministry beyond Sunday.
A particular burden of Pastor Poorna’s heart is for the underprivileged. He champions outreach to the poor and marginalised, directing church resources and personal energy toward food distribution, practical aid, and relationship centred support. He and Deepu regularly visit neighbourhoods, listen to needs, and mobilise the congregation to respond with dignity and hope.
